In the fall of 2008, FOB sent an Encouragement Package to Oahu shark attack survivor, Todd Murashige. Todd, much like his new friends from Kauai Bethany Hamilton and Mike Coots, was attacked by a shark while surfing.
Under God’s protection, he survived and was on the road to recovery. Upon receipt of our package, Todd called to thank us. He was very encouraged and blessed that we cared enough to send him our Aloha. He said when he watched Bethany’s documentary he felt like he could really relate to her. Not just because of the experience they share, but because God was sending him a wake up call.
In December that year, Bethany and Tom Hamilton attended a benefit fundraiser for Todd to help raise funds to pay for his medical bills. They both really enjoyed meeting him and his family and supporting him in his recovery. Todd is has since gone to physical therapy and has read Bethany’s book.
